Last night I didn’t get home in time to head out to my Cornish Quilt Guild…but, today I managed to get to the guild that meets at Four Pines Quilt Shop.
We made pillowcases tonight – they are donated to our local homeless shelter at Christmas time. One of our members showed up with five cases already done. Another member sent two. And, we made 17 during our two-hour meeting! So we have a total of 24 so far.
Yesterday, I went to the ENT doctor – and my date for allergy testing is August 16th. I can’t wait.
Girls Night Out – Part 2…

Every Girls Night Out Becky (the shop owner) puts in a simple project for each of us to work on. It is included in our gift basket – (which held a package of tissues, a new pen, chocolate, mints, a game card, and a door prize ticket).
The game card – mine was a butterfly – and I had to search the store looking for the matching butterfly…I found it in a pattern for three adorable bags…and that was mine to keep.
Anyway, last night’s project was an adorable pot holder – wanna see? I put together the back – which I forgot to photograph – put it together, and then quilted it…all in the space of an hour or so…
Now let’s talk about the BINDING TOOL that I bought…
I have to say that this $9.00 item will probably save me enough frustration and a terrific amount of gas money from running up to the store (which is not far – a couple of miles) and saying “I can’t remember how to do that!!! ”
This little jewel tells you exactly how to get your binding joined…I love it! And, now I can get my bindings on at home…
I’m so happy!!!!

Fun night tonight – we had our quarterly Girls Night Out at Four Pines Quilt Shop. As always there was good food, great company, and lots of sewing.
Becky really goes all out for the night making sure that we have a fun project to work on – and free prizes.
Her husband even got called into duty when there was no CHOCOLATE on hand – and he showed up with lots of goodies. She told him over the phone – “buy like you were buying for me – only multiply it by 12!”
I won a really neat pattern for some cute bags…and tomorrow I’ll show you the new tool I bought – it is the BEST thing for putting on bindings!!!
Yarny Birthday Gifts …

While we were away at Seyon Lodge, my dear friend, Dianna, gave me some lovely yarns for my birthday present.
This is Sunshine Yarns Sock Club 2007 Yarn – Colorway – Daring! That’s me! It is 100% Superwash Merino Wool – 450 yards.
Spunky Eclectic – Super Nova – Superwash Merino Sport w/10% nylon. Color: Grape Lot: 208 and has 360 yards.
This one would be Brooklyn Handspun – Colorway: Springs Return. Superwash Merino – and is 280 yards…
They are all lovely yarns and I can’t wait to knit with them…
On the way home we stopped at my friend and Laila’s daughter, Kristen’s place. She has a wonderful farm – with goats that she won (I’ll have to tell you that story later this year – after spring thaw and mud season – when I go spend the day and photograph all her sweet goats.)
Anyway, Kristen gave me some lovely yarn in a lovely bag…
The yarn is called Tallulah’s Toes – and it is a wonderful sock yarn!
And, the carrying bag contains a photo of Tallulah…She is so cute – plus the bags are a great advertisement for Gilead Fiber Farm which is the name of Kristen’s farm.
Such wonderful fibery goodness – and such wonderful fibery friends…Thanks again, girls…

Last night we had a Girls Night Out at my local quilt shop, Four Pines Quilting. As always, a good time was had by all…
Brenda worked on her Butterfly quilt – all she has left to do are the borders!
Deb finished her heart wall hanging that we were given as part of our goodie bag…
And, I finished up a quilt that I had brought up from Tennessee six years ago. The top is all done.
Up close of some of the blocks….
Also finished the last block to a BOM quilt from Tennessee – The Nimble Thimble Quilt Shop. We moved to New Hampshire the month of the last block and I am just getting around to finishing up the project. I will be sashing this in a pretty mottled black and then adding a border of a dark pink. It will be very pretty when finished. I’ll get it done soon…
Monster Socks Revisited & Henniker…

So, a few of you want to know what monster socks are. Well, as far as I know the term came from Lynne at Sock Lady Spins. They are socks that are made with left overs of your sock yarn. If you click on the link above it will take you to a photo of a pair of her monster socks. There is also a group on Ravelry that is called Monstersocks.
My friends, Penny and Patti and I drove down to Henniker, New Hampshire this morning – we stopped at Quilted Threads. It is a beautiful quilt shop in Henniker – and they have fabulous fabric and all sorts of patterns, threads, and anything you need to quilt with. Picked up 4 quarter yards of batiks that were on sale…(Did I tell you I’m thinking about making a shower curtain out of batiks – 5 or 6 inch squares???)
It was a pretty day for a ride and we ended up having lunch at a little bakery/restaurant called Mary’s. For $2.25 I had a chicken taco. It was huge…and so good…and not at all spicy…just wonderful! Penny had a mushroom soup that looked and smelled awesome. Patty had a traditional chicken cobb salad - and she ended up taking half of it home.
It was a fun day – and nice to celebrate the day with my friends…
It’s Finished…

My beautiful bargello quilt is done! And, I could not be happier…
It measures 47 inches by 61 inches. Almost covers my bed – and once I get a pillowcase made from the backing fabric, the large border fabric and the binding/small border fabric – it will look great on the bed.
This was not an easy quilt for me to make – it took a lot of steps to make it – and I’m not usually that patient a person…but, I hung in there because it was looking beautiful and I knew the end result would be worth it!
